MOL Group, a leading international, integrated oil and gas company headquartered in Hungary, set out to revolutionize its customer loyalty program. The goal was to build an integrated app for all its markets while creating a more digital and gamified program. We are very proud that MOL Group chose us to develop its new mobile application.
Over the years, we have become strategic partners and have worked closely together, not only on developing the application but also on providing support services and assisting them in agile transformation. The new customer loyalty app is currently available in 6 countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland) and has 3 million users. It has become an international success and has won numerous awards worldwide.

MOL Group already had a customer loyalty program in Hungary and a few other markets, but it was not integrated. The new application needed to be developed in such a way that MOL could easily introduce it to all of its markets. The project started at the very beginning of COVID lockdowns, further adding to the challenges.
Our architects played a continuous and pivotal role in the creation of the new system by designing and validating numerous critical components with the System Architect Steering Committee of MOL Group. As a result, we created a unified and scalable middleware component to serve the mobile applications that enabled a quick and easy rollout to all markets. Parallel to the new cloud-based backend, for the client side, we also developed high-quality native mobile applications both for iOS and Android platforms.
During the development process of both the backend and the client sides, we implemented all the industry best practices related to CI/CD pipelines, and integration testing to ensure the safe and secure shipment of our code. As for the COVID challenge, in a matter of days, we provided all the necessary tools for our developers to work from their homes and created a whole new way of working effectively with our client while respecting information security as well.
Despite the COVID difficulties, we managed to deliver the project on time with high quality, and since then the application has been released in 6 countries, including Hungary, and has 3 million users. We are currently working on multiple new market releases as well as introducing additional functions.
The app has been a huge success both from a business and a technical aspect. The program has won numerous international awards, including Gold for Incentive and Reward Design at The Loyalty 360 Awards in the USA, as well as the 2023 International Loyalty Award for the CEE region in London. We have become MOL Group’s strategic partner, and we are looking forward to future challenges!
